It’s been awhile since I’ve grabbed my camera, gotten in my car, filled up with gas, grabbed a warm drink and hit the road to find something I find beautiful enough to shoot. I had been thinking about it for the past couple weeks and decided to do that last Monday and just see where the road would take me.
I have to admit, I got a bit caught up in my thoughts when I was driving and just being able to have some time to myself. I didn’t take too many shots – but I love the ones that I took. I find that driving really clears my head and allows me to think – my best ideas come from long drives listening to great music.
I’m hoping to get my camera out more but it’s just been way too cold!
I love the fall, as I’ve said before the colours are mesmerizing. I’m lucky enough to live in the shadow of the Niagara Escarpment along the famous Bruce Trail – the outdoors are all around me. It’s a great sight throughout the year, from the buds in the spring, to the fresh green of summer, and the changing of the leaves all throughout the fall. I highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area!
For me, I visit any time that I feel the need to get out. Last Friday, I convinced my dad to take a hike with me and my family’s dog, Monty. Monty is an English Springer Spaniel, we adopted him from a rescue about 4 years ago, he’s 9 now and has as much energy as a puppy does, perfect for hiking.
I wanted to share some beautiful shots that I snapped during our 2 and a half hour hike along the Escarpment Trail and Bruce Trail. Enjoy!
Over looking West Hamilton and McMaster University
On our journey back to the car, we stopped at a bakery that I’ve been going to since I was little. We had a spot of lunch and a cookie, we were famished and I forgot to grab some shots of the delicious food so no photos of the food – sorry!
We also passed by a family friend’s vineyard who happened to be out picking some grapes to sell at the side of the road later in the day.
Being an animal person, I had to stop and give a pet to this beautiful horse at the side of the road. She trotted right up to me, not shy at all!
It was a great day to hike, I can’t wait to do it again soon…
It’s the time of year where all I want to do is look at the leaves, be outside, and of course, shop. This past weekend was Thanksgiving in Canada and I had the chance to take a country drive and do some antique shopping. If only I had my very own house to decorate how I see fit.
This particular antique store is only minutes from my house, very convenient for the odd trip. There are some great finds, some not so great, and some very overpriced – not to mention the place is a tad bit creepy when venturing alone, the rooms extend far into the warehouse.
I had to stop at the lookout coming down the escarpment, it has great views of the valley and even tucked away in the back there is Lake Ontario.
